The conclusion, I needed to disable the UPnP server and use the Port Forwarding. A big learning process from the Netduma and a big waste of time to investigate what I thought was flawless. I closed every possibility until 2 days ago. I received everyday an email from the server about not able to port forward via UPnP. Since I bought the R1, my Synology DiskStation gave me headache to address UPnP forwarding. I added it between my modem and my Nighthawk router (now in AP mode). None of my products have problems between them except the Netduma. Please, let Netduma tech support help the customers. You already replied twice without knowing what you are talking about.

I think you don't know how to read carefully what I wrote the first time. I'd be looking at the firewall settings on the Synology as the cause. In my case, an automatic firewall rule on the destination Plex server was blocking it, not the R1. I'm using 32400 for both internal and external. I know a lot about network stuff but this issue only happening with the Netduma (I don't know yet, well). Now I need your help to enable or disable a feature in your router to make it work. I tried to change the external access port, nothing work. My server have many web sites accessible without issues but THE ONLY things not working at all, the automatic / seamless access to my server via. Start first the Netduma and after all other devices to be sure it will perfectly open ports via UPnP. I read somewhere your router use a VPN connection or something? It is possible this is an issue? I use the same IP range with the DHCP server. If I switched back to my previous router, I have no problems, no change needed on my server. Internal IP with the internal port 32400 The way I can access it is via a direct connection: My server have a reserved IP and it open the right ports via UPnP. My first, only and main issue is about my Plex Server (NAS) access outside of my network. I didn't touched anything in Plex Server settings. So far, I like it but I have many things to learn about everything I can do with it. I wasted a lot of time trying to figure out the solution to this and while I have mostly written up this post to help me remember how I got this working, I hope this helps someone else waste a little less time.Hi! I bought your product 2 days ago from someone. The solution was pretty easy too, I navigated over to Services -> DNS Resolver -> General Settings and scrolled down and clicked the “Show Custom Options” button, which displayed the Custom options entry where I added the following: server: I finally stumbled across a link to this plex support article that directly pointed the way on pfSense (which never showed up on my normal searches because it doesn’t have the word “indirect” anywhere). I thought it was all great then I noticed that when I accessed Plex from my local network it was showing up as indirect, which caused it to transcode everything like it was coming from the internet.Īfter too much time searching for things like “plex indirect pfsense” and trying solutions for similar problems the closest I got was a forum post indicating it was a DNS Rebinding issue with plex Secure Connections, but I didn’t know how to fix it. After saving and applying these changes and having plex recheck remote access it came up green with “Fully accessible outside your network”. I could have done a static port forward (and maybe I still will) but I figured UPnP also might be useful to make sure my XBox and Steam games didn’t have issues either. There I checked Enable UPnP & NAT-PMP, Allow UPnP Port Mapping, & Allow NAT-PMP Port Mapping. In the pfSense WebUI I navigated to Services -> UPnP & NAT-PMP. It didn’t take long to realize that pfSense had UPnP disabled by default.

Not ideal, if I want to watch a movie from my collection while I’m traveling. Once I had it all done and configured I noticed that my plex server was reporting as unreachable to the outside world. At the same time I also replaced my Ubiquiti EdgeRouter X with a custom pfSense router (primarily for better remote VPN and P2P VPN support). I’ve recently built a custom FreeNAS file server in my house to act as high capacity storage for my personal photos & videos, a Plex Media Server, and an S3 server for offsite backup for my business and family, among a few other minor things.
